HO scale shop truck mounts for Bachmann F9

This set of adaptors will allow you to take an older HO-scale Bachmann pancake motor model and fit a set of freight car trucks with a 0.2-inch hole in the place of the power pickup and motor trucks. While I love working on the old pancakes, sometimes you get one with a motor that's a little too far gone. In addition, I like to model out-of-service rolling stock, and this seemed like a good way to mix the two. All modifications to the locomotive are completely reversible. Shop trucks are used to support a locomotive when its own trucks are not available. These do not have any power systems or suspension, and I think they make for a really interesting look. Included with the model photos are a few prototype railroad pictures showing this done in real life.To remove the old trucks, unscrew the two motor plates, being careful of the springs that hide beneath and will jump out, never to be seen again, if you aren't careful. take the brushes (small metal cylinders under the springs) out too. Unscrew the plastic piece holding the motor in on one side, then use a small flathead screwdriver to release the tab holding the other side. Also, use this screwdriver to push in the clips holding the front truck on. Pull the lightbulb and wires through, and you should have a bare chassis with just a weight. Keep all these parts around, as you never know when you'll need them! You will need to print one front mount (revised) and one rear mount, plus two truck pins.A fair amount of sanding was needed for me to get mine to fit, unfortunately. I used a small circular file to carefully enlarge the holes, and a Dremel to grind away some outer plastic on the rear mount. I ended up sticking the front mount in a drill to act like a lathe and sand it evenly. The pins shouldn't need sanding. You may avoid these problems with a higher resolution. The parts are all friction fit for me, but you may want to use some hot glue or something to hold them in place. This project isn't finished yet. Future plans include painting the prints and trucks, as well as weathering the engine to match.
