HO scale cooling tower
thingiverse
HO scale cooling tower for ice plant, cold storage, or ice cream factory. Cooling towers like this were unmistakable signs of industrial refrigeration equipment in the first half of the 20th century. Refrigeration plants would compress some coolant like ammonia gas, extract heat from whatever needed cooling, and then let it expand and cool to dump the heat outside. Cooling towers had radiator-style pipes to remove waste heat; water in the cooling tower flowed over the radiators.\r\n\r\nThis model was designed specifically for a Formabs Form One printer. Parts were printed directly on the build plate in upright orientation so the fins didn't require support. I printed the two right angle parts and glued them together. I added a piece of 1/16" (0.062) styrene on top.\r\n\r\nThe real fins look like they were made from corrugated iron; someone else can add that detail!\r\n\r\nModel available in SketchUp form or as STL file.\r\n\r\nMore details on the model here:\r\nhttps://vasonabranch.blogspot.com/2020/03/we-all-scream-for-location-accurate.html
