HO Scale Bradford Utilities Building
thingiverse
Model of a small brick building that used to stand on Colborne Street in Bradford, Ontario.https://maps.app.goo.gl/a4nyuadv9ih9TkUM9 From the building's proportions and from the remains of hardware on the walls, I suspect the building housed electric or telephone utilities. The model features interior detailing on the walls and roof. The structure walls are a single print to avoid corner joints. The roof is in three parts: framing, a sheet representing planks for the interior, and a top providing the roof surface and flashing. The roof surface is not textured; finish the roof with your favorite method to represent tarred membrane or gravel. For windows and doors, print two parts for each opening. Sandwich the parts back-to-back with glazing between them to create doors and windows with interior detail. You may need to sand the windows and doors to fit. There is no positive positioning of the windows and doors; I just center them front-to-back in the opening until they look right.UPDATESSeptember 10, 2024: Updated the roof parts, door, and window for better and easier fit and to add more detail to the windows. Added these files:colborne_updated_door.stlcolborne_updated_rafters.stlcolborne_updated_roof.stlcolborne_updated_roof_planks.stlcolborne_updated_window.stlThe updated roof parts fit the walls when printed as-is.The door and windows have a designed-in 0.1mm clearance. For best results, I print the walls and measure the openings with an inexpensive digital caliper. I then adjust the door and window parts in the slicer to fit the openings. This reduces the amount of sanding needed to get the parts to fit well.
