Use this tool to apply a uniform layer of drywall compound on your HO layout roads, creating a consistent "asphalt" finish. The file illustration does not showcase how the sides of the tool produce a gap between the "ground" and its top surface. This tool comes in two versions: one assembled for convenience and one in pieces for customization. It can be printed at 90x90mm. To create realistic parking lots, make multiple passes with the tool, placing them side by side, then fill the gaps between once the drywall compound has dried. The height of the "asphalt" will match the top of Code 100 rail, providing a seamless integration. When approaching an obstacle, lift the front of the tool and use its curled back to get closer. This feature allows for precise placement. A thin skim coat with a wide putty knife can smooth out the surface of the "asphalt," creating a realistic finish.
