For those who want to track a train's proximity to scenery - fence, house, tree, nacelles, etc. - I've created this HO scale template. It's a 3D version of NEM 102: Aligned free passage template. Having a 3D template beats a simple flat plate any day. You can place it on the track and use both hands for decorating. The template comes in two parts, with the cover used most often. However, know that without the cover, this gauge slips under the slide at steam depots, but won't fit inside Jouef rotundas. Steam locomotives work just fine either way. The lower part is asymmetrical, designed for passenger docks on one side and freight docks on the other.
