The Type 45 is a cutting-edge class of Anti-Air Warfare Destroyers designed to replace the Royal Navy's aging Type 42s. These state-of-the-art vessels will boast the Principal Anti-Air Missile System (PAAMS), capable of safeguarding not only themselves but also nearby ships from aerial threats, thereby fulfilling the Fleet's air defense needs well into the next century. PAAMS is being jointly procured with France and Italy. Weighing in at around 7,350 tonnes and stretching over 150 meters long, the Type 45s will be the largest and most formidable air defense destroyers ever constructed for the Royal Navy, also surpassing other general purpose surface warships in size and capability. The class has been designated as the 'D' Class. The names of the first six ships have been announced: HMS Daring, HMS Dauntless, HMS Diamond, HMS Dragon, HMS Defender, and HMS Duncan. Technical specifications: Originally created using Maya 7 with default shaders, this model is also compatible with 3ds Max 8 files featuring default scanline shaders. The included 3D Max 8 file contains the model, materials, textures, and all necessary settings for seamless rendering. Preview images were generated in Maya using the default software renderer.
