HMS Thunderchild's showing during the Martian invasion further validated the ramming bow causing its continued used on later designs. After the invasion her legacy would be continued in the form of a first class battleship. With a main armament consisting of 4 of the newer 12in/40caliber guns and a secondary armament of nine 9.2 in Mk VIII it was more than capable of facing, matching or over powering her contemporaries. Meanwhile, her tertiary, quaternary, and quinary batteries of twelve 6-inch Mk VII, ten 12-pounder 12 cwt, and eight QF 3-pounder Hotchkiss allowed her to fend off destroyers and torpedo boats. She would also retain her namesakes torpedo armament with eight 18in fixed torpedo tubes; two forward, two aft, two port, and two starboard.
