HMS Prince of Wales Battleship (1940)

thingiverse

This is a scale model of the HMS Prince of Wales, one of five battleships in the King George V Class, comprising ships launched by King George V (1940), Prince of Wales (1941), Duke of York (1941), Howe (1942), and Anson (1942). Although many members of this class saw limited action, primarily due to the shifting priorities of arctic convoys and the increasing dominance of aircraft carriers. The battleships King George V and Prince of Wales engaged the German Bismarck shortly after Prince of Wales' commissioning but were severely damaged; in December 1941, Prince of Wales was sunk by an aerial attack. Their sister ship, Duke of York, fought alone against the Scharnhorst Battlecruiser (sister ship to Gneisenau) in the Battle of the North Cape. The Scharnhorst faced a daunting enemy: one battleship, one heavy cruiser, three light cruisers, and nine destroyers. This model remains a work in progress; if you desire a more detailed, elaborate vessel, please be patient (I'm currently occupied with college responsibilities, leaving little time for personal projects).
