HMS Inflexible completed construction just in time to join the bombardment of Alexandria a year after its launch, unleashing 88 massive 16-inch shells at the city's forts alongside numerous other ships. The goal was to neutralize the defenses controlled by individuals intent on removing Anglo-French protection from Egypt. During the bombardment, HMS Inflexible's main guns inadvertently killed two men on board due to a blast near an unprotected 20-pounder, destroying lifeboats and damaging parts of its own superstructure. The fighting lasted from 7:07 am on July 11th until the last fort fell at 5 pm. Despite suffering no damage from incoming fire, HMS Inflexible's performance was deemed ineffective, as only six out of 26 guns were knocked out at Ras-el-Tin. After a peaceful life, HMS Inflexible was eventually scrapped in 1903.
