Four immunology students at the University of Toulouse prepared the stl file. Florian, Tifanie, Marie, and Laetitia created it as part of a pedagogical scenario to introduce students to examining and handling 3D structures. This led to creating a gallery of portraits featuring molecules with immunological significance. The "Thing" was printed at CampusFab, the University's LabLab (https://twitter.com/@campusfab). The MakerBot Replicator 2 handled all printing tasks. The file was in .gz format and needed to be adapted for 3D printing using Chimera software (https://cgl.ucsf.edu/chimera). The final stl file was saved using that extension. The object was printed on a MakerBot Replicator (http://www.makerbot.com).
