Decorated bone handle for a stone blade found in the Hot Springs Village Site, Port Moller, Alaska. Okada excavations, HLo3, dated 600-800 CE. Catalog number CAT#HL03-202. The massive village of Hot Springs sits on the shore of Port Moller, directly on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. Multiple teams have excavated this site over the past century. Main occupations occurred from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and from 100 CE to 800 CE. Research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411 has led to the presentation of Hot Springs artifacts. H. Maschner served as Principal Investigator for this project. Original digitization took place at Idaho State University's IVL lab. Subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
