Please share your makes and comments! Was looking for custom parts for my pistols and found the best online retailer for HK is HKparts.net. However, I didn't want to pay their prices. So naturally I did what any creative 3D printer would have done - designed my own version. I have confirmed that the function of the backplate is solely to hold in the firing pin and firing sleeve, and there is no impact placed on this piece. I have not yet tested this 3D printed part with live rounds, but it should be just fine - Even the stock piece is only a polymer. Anyway, I hold no responsibility for any damage or injury (to yourself or firearm) that you may individually experience. Once I have tested with live ammo, I will update this post. Printing: I printed it with gold PLA (attempting to match the mag extension I already own), and it looks pretty great, but you can choose whatever color you like! I think it would be better to print with PETG or ABS for strength. If you're good with PETG/ABS, feel free. I think the best way to print this is face up (flat side down), with no supports or brim. I have printed this with 20% infill and 100% infill for a little stronger piece. I have recently modified this Thingi a couple times, which I contoured around the top of the plate better, enlarged the view window just a bit (so the firing pin indicator shows easier), changed the shape of the groove at the bottom to better match the original design by HKparts.net, and removed the indent on the back (unnecessary). I will upload all 3 versions, but the most authentic is v3. Print times for 100% infill was about 15 minutes or less.
