HK 10A UBec ESC Flashing Tool
thingiverse
This is a versatile adapter for the HK 10amp UBec ESC. It provides a clothespin-style clip for making contact with contacts on the board. I won't go into details about flashing the ESC as there are many existing websites covering this topic already. For the pinouts of the HK 10a UBec ESC, please refer to the attached image. The pins used were obtained by removing some from pin headers; these can be sourced from hobbyking, Amazon, or numerous other retailers, as they're extremely common. I apologize for the different picture backgrounds - my towel was confiscated by my wife and the ESCs are already installed on the quad. It's worth noting that you don't need to remove wires to flash the ESC; I had to rebuild my entire quad, so all old wires were removed. To ensure proper contact between the contacts, which aren't spring-loaded, file them flat and bring them close together. Then, use sandpaper and a thin, flat object (I used a blank circuit board) to hold the pins at the right height and facilitate easy sanding. When using wet/dry paper (which is black), you'll see six evenly spaced copper lines on the sandpaper when it's nice and flat. Be aware that the pinout for the 10a UBec ESC differs significantly from those of the 20a/30a units; pay attention to your wiring. Flashing ESCs essentially voids your warranty, and once flashed, you cannot restore the original firmware. I'm not liable for any consequences resulting from using this adapter or if you inadvertently release the "magic smoke." That being said, BelHeli is exceptional for quads and outperforms SimonK in my opinion; so far, I've upgraded all my quads to BelHeli.
