HJ-Y3 tricopter tail servo adapter
thingiverse
The HJ-Y3 tricopter frame comes equipped with a mounting plate specifically designed for the TowerHobby MG-90 servo, notorious for its mediocre performance. The MG90, in my particular frame set, came pre-installed, and I soon realized its limitations as a helicopter or tricopter tail servo, rendering it insufficient for serious use. This prompted me to seek a more reliable alternative. I took the initiative to design an adapter that allows the installation of a Turnigy S306G high-quality all-metal servo in place of the inadequate MG90. No modifications are required to the frame itself, making this a convenient solution. The adapter snugly slips over the servo and comes into contact with the mounting posts, providing a sturdy hold. It is essential to note that the adapter needs to be securely fastened to keep the servo firmly in place. This involves intentionally crafting it slightly too large, eliminating any potential wobble regardless of the printer used to produce it. As a result, users will need to utilize a file on both the outer and inner surfaces to ensure a precise fit.
