Hive Colony
thingiverse
Pieces for the fan expansion to the game "Hive".IMPORTANT: Use 0.25mm layer height for the base and each bug. l accounted for the bridging so don't flip the base when you print it or the bugs will not align correctly.I used a base piece around the outside, put (3) Ø32mm x 1mm metal discs in the middle for weight, then used a plate on each side (with the bugs printed on them) to hold everything together. The pieces should click together, though you may need to press in the corners with a tool to get them all the way in. The metal discs aren't necessary, but I like the added weight; the tiles feel better imo.All bugs were modeled from an overlay of the originals while keeping a minimum thickness of 0.8mm for the legs and antennae, or 2 passes with a 0.4mm nozzle. I also modified some to increase the small gap spacing so they looked a bit better when printed. The centipede lost a few legs as a result, but they have plenty anyway. Also, I used a different picture for the moth as I felt it was visually a bit too similar to the butterfly and I wasn't happy with the result I got when I traced it.
