Hittite civilization The Sun Disk - Hitit Güneş Kursu

The Sun Disk is widely regarded as a masterpiece of the Hittite civilization. In 1935, excavations began at Alacahöyük and uncovered the ancient relic. Dating back to the Pre-Hittite period, this bronze work was used in sacred ceremonies about 4250 years ago. The round shape of the Sun Disk represents the world or the sun itself. Protrusions on its surface symbolize the abundance of nature and reproduction. Birds also signify freedom and growth in the natural world. It is known that the Solar Course was built approximately 300 years before the Hittites arrived in Anatolia, where they were buried alongside this sacred symbol with their Hatti kings.
