Hit and Miss Engine kit

A 1/16 scale model replicates a 1900's 12 horsepower Fairbanks-Morse Hit and Miss gasoline engine, designed primarily for stationary use in generators, pumps, sawmills, and occasionally on trailers. This particular model is water-cooled with an attached tank. Smaller engines were typically air-cooled with exposed crankcases. It's meant to be used on a 1940s Cole Bros Circus stake driver and generator wagon measuring 3/4 inch per foot. The Hit and Miss engine resembles its steam predecessors, firing intermittently for flywheel rotation, producing a "POP, chug, chug, chug, POP" sound. Constructive feedback on the model's accuracy is welcome from antique engine enthusiasts, who may also point out missed features or mistakes. Assembly instructions involve gluing the flywheels to major axles and attaching water pipes in the engine base before assembling the cooling tower. The scale prints well at 1/2 and 1/4 inch per foot.
