Darling in the FranXX made a big splash at the start of 2018. Disturbing images were widely commented on YouTube and other platforms. Although the criticisms are valid, it would be a shame to miss out on this anime from Trigger studios. True to their usual fan service style, the place of women evolves clearly over the episodes. Strong themes are addressed and resonate with the problems faced by Japan today. We think of Nausicaa by Miyazaki, A Voice of a Distant Star by Makoto Shinkei, and many others... While imposing strong female characters, the transition to adolescence and motherhood has rarely been handled as well. And to top it off, the mechas have feminine traits, still a rare sight. For this figurine, I tried varnishing before painting to smooth out the piece on the advice of people met at conventions. Long drying time and very restrictive, it's not really a success. I'll keep the varnish for gluing parts together, as usual, there are tons of parts to glue.
