Hinged Plate with Magnetic Inserts

On June 3rd, I incorporated a CAD design showcasing an innovative magnetic braking system. This model is similar to my previous "Hinged Brace..." prototype but utilizes magnets instead of springs. A photo illustrating how this concept can be efficiently assessed at a "hack-a-thon" using Legos has also been included. This magnetic braking system holds significant potential for various industrial applications, offering an alternative to viscoelastic materials or even working in conjunction with them. In the presented design, I replaced the viscoelastic pad from an earlier prototype with two opposing magnets; however, the magnets could also be embedded within the plates, combining both technologies. To maintain the non-powered stipulation, I ensured that no electromagnets were used in this design. By sharing this idea, I hope to encourage others to explore innovative solutions utilizing permanent magnets.
