Hinged Laser Target For Walls - Disto & Other Laser Measurers
thingiverse
I loved ccbdav's idea for a wall target that attaches to edges of walls. As someone who does flooring estimation, I often need to take long laser shots and stop at specific walls to make corners. Usually, I'd have to use the Disto tool to make deductions before shooting to another wall. I liked ccbdav's idea, but I wanted mine to be hinged so I could rotate it 90 degrees depending on which edge of the wall I was connecting to. The magnet holes are designed for 12mm diameter, 3mm thick magnets that I purchased at Home Depot. They fit snugly, but I still epoxied them into place for added security. I didn't create this from scratch; I'm still learning Fusion 360. This design started as Maker's Muse's file for demonstrating live hinges. I simply modified and rounded some corners to achieve the desired size. Unfortunately, the hinges didn't print well. The "pin" of the hinge is too small, but it still holds due to little "divots." I plan to re-design this as my skills in Fusion 360 improve. This target fits perfectly in my back pocket, making it easy to carry with me during estimations. For optimal reflectivity, print this design in either red or white. Dark colors won't work well. I used "Clay Red" $5 filament for the top and bottom layers, and white in the middle. The settings included 25% infill, three perimeters, a .20 layer height, two solid top and bottom layers, and it worked great. Solid red would have been fine, but I didn't have enough, so I did an infill with white.
