Hinge Style Fan Bracket for Makergear M2
thingiverse
I've never been pleased with the standard fan bracket system on the M2. It tugs on the wires when flipped out of the way, and relying solely on one bolt as the pivot point feels like a design flaw. I also didn't appreciate that to clear the 50mm fan from obstructing my view of the print, I had to remove the 40mm fan from cooling the extruder. I've tried various alternative designs found online, but while some were aesthetically pleasing, they either failed to address these issues to my liking or introduced new problems with the printing process. Since I needed a project to learn AutoCAD, I decided to redesign this system myself. Here's my first AutoCAD design, and hopefully, it will be the first of many submissions in the "Things" series. UPDATE: 1/26/17 I've updated the STL file for this. It is slightly shorter so that it better clears the bed clips. I also added a clip to the side that secures it in either the up or down position.
