Hinge Replacement , Round, Stainless Steel Trash Can

I'm tackling the repair of our stainless steel trash can, whose hinge has given out, so I've taken on the project to craft a replacement that will far surpass the lifespan of the original can itself. I plan to paint it this weekend and share the final picture once the job is complete. (You thought I'd leave it in its current green state?!?)
