Hinge for the AEG T96699IH clothes dryer
prusaprinters

Version 2.0, the first one broke after 4 months due to the print not being annealed.

This dryer model has a design fault, the hinge is made of very thin material and thus prone to breaking. This hinge reduces the opening angle to 90° which makes it thick enough to be able to 3d print it. The little catches on the back of the original part are removed, because they are not necessary and this makes printing easier. STEP file included.

Given the high temperature environment and high strength required, you should print it in PC or nylon. I used PC plus with no additives and it seems to be enough. Print with 3 mm walls and 3 mm top/bottom, infill as you like, hot to make it strong. I used 265 °C head temp, 115 °C bed temp, 30 mm/s speed with 0,6 mm nozzle (or 60/0,4), 0 % fan on my Voron. If you use PC or PC plus, I would very much recommend you anneal the print (6 hours at 90 °C, any oven with good temperature control will work), it makes it much stiffer and should prevent breaking after a while.

After printing, drill out the hinge holes with a 4,3 or 4,5 mm drill and fill with some grease to ensure smooth hinge action. Use the original hinge rod to install. It flexes just a bit in use, but it is quite functional.
