Hinge- and Grip set for Ultimaker 3 DIY front door
thingiverse
Although the Ultimaker 3 is nearly a complete 3D printing machine, it lacks a crucial feature: a front door. The manufacturer itself recommends installing a front door, especially for high-temperature prints such as ABS. This simple addition significantly improves temperature stabilization within the machine, resulting in better print quality. The proposed set of components includes all necessary parts to install a front door. To create this essential component, I modified a transparent 4 mm acrylic plate to fit snugly into the printer's cutout. The hinge components on the door side must be securely attached to the plate using M3 screws and nuts. Additionally, the frame-side hinge parts should be fixed to the printer's front plate with small countersunk drywall bolts, such as 2.5 mm x 10 mm.
