Hiking pole endcap with ring
thingiverse
I decided to take matters into my own hands after losing the endcaps on my hiking poles, so I could simply print replacements whenever I inevitably misplaced them again. To minimize this risk, I added a hoop to each pole, allowing me to securely attach them to my pack with a carabiner when in use. These endcaps have a 13mm opening that tapers down to 12mm, providing an excellent grip when printed with TPU on my poles, which feature 12mm diameter tips. However, if your poles have smaller or larger tip diameters, you can easily adjust the size using the scaling feature in your slicer and perform some basic math. While these endcaps may work when printed with a slightly flexible material like PETG, I believe they'll hold strongest when printed with a high-shore flex filament such as TPU. Unfortunately, ABS and PLA are unlikely to provide sufficient grip to keep them securely attached.
