Hiking Pole Clips

### Clips for Hiking Poles with Secure Locking Mechanism These clips are designed to securely lock around a pair of hiking poles while in use, allowing one pole to carry the weight of the other. The clips feature a captured hinge mechanism with loose tolerances suitable for printing at lower resolutions. When both poles are being held by the clip, the tension on the mechanism locks the clasp firmly into place. In the example photos, two clips are used for extra stability, but it is fully functional with just one. ### Why This Design Was Created Many individuals with mobility issues rely on hiking poles (or similar devices) to assist them in getting around instead of using dedicated medical tools like canes or walkers. Those struggling with fatigue may only use a single pole most of the day, but need both poles when walking longer distances. Carrying the second pole under your arm is awkward and can make it difficult to carry items with your free hand. These clips allow the second pole of a pair to be carried hands-free. ### Appreciation for Assistance This project was made possible through the support of the Maker Hub at the Eugene Public Library; thank you to all the volunteers involved! Special thanks are extended to Mariah for her field testing and feedback.
