A comprehensive collection of high-resolution heightmaps and geometry specifically designed for Vietnam is now available. Preview images, which display increased elevations to simplify visual assessment, showcase the full range of topographic variations. Please note that actual heights are different from these depicted values. The grey-scale representation, with values ranging from 0-1, translates to actual elevation differences between -100 and 10,000 metres. For precise results, a re-mapping process is essential. Key geographical coordinates can be derived directly from the included files: for each, "LatLon" represents aligned data to latitude/longitude positions that encompass an extensive range of: Minimum Latitude: 8.0 degrees Maximum Latitude: 24.0 degrees Minimum Longitude: 102.0 degrees Maximum Longitude: 110.0 degrees The "Cartesian" heightmap undergoes an initial earth-scaled spherical transformation and subsequent re-alignment, aligning polar axes with a grid while bringing it back to its central axis. In contrast, another elevation map retains its geographical longitude/latitude values using Mercator's cartographic method.
