High Strength Paracord Block and Tackle Pulley
pinshape
For kicks, I created a block and tackle designed to support my own weight with paracord. The type of paracord used can be found on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1gIiqlo. This design utilized six pulleys to distribute my 170-pound body weight across six different areas, generating roughly 30 pounds of input force per area. While it was strong enough, balancing the system proved challenging. To address this issue, I later designed a mount and center holder to keep everything centered. The design is also highly modular, allowing users to adjust the number of pulleys on the block as needed. According to my clevis calculator, available at http://engineerdog.com/resources/, this design can withstand a 550-pound load when using ABS material with 50% infill.
