Collection of high-resolution heightmaps and geometry for the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda (The preview images have been enhanced with amplified heights to make viewing easier, yet are not representative of actual terrain values) Greyscale values between 0-1 are equivalent to terrain elevations spanning -100 to 10,000 metres; to achieve precise results, these greyscale values should be adjusted accordingly The heightmaps provided in the files are labelled LatLon, which corresponds to a coordinate system where latitude/longitude positions are set as follows: minimum Latitude -3.0, maximum Latitude -1.0, minimum Longitude 28.0, and maximum Longitude 31.0 Another method of mapping is achieved by projecting coordinates onto an earth-sized sphere, aligning the poles to form a grid before resetting them to the origin, resulting in the least amount of distortion possible The other heightmap options are set according to Mercator projection methodology; please note that each file comes with a unique coordinate system.
