This do it yourself rain sensor uses an accurate scale with an accuracy of 0.1 gram to measure rain. The data is transferred to my home automation FHEM with MQTT. Just the right thing for a rainy day :-) The tipping buckets are only used as an simple way to dispose the water after weighing. With this I could avoid a pump to do this job.
