High Load Carabiner

High Load Carabiner

I was fed up with how fragile the ddf3d carabiners are so I created a high load model optimized for effortless printing. I did retain ddf3d's gate lock though with a slight modification to prevent the inner surfaces from fusing during the printing process. No supports are required to print this. I haven't tested it to its breaking point, but only because I ran out of weights. Printed with PLA, I was able to lift 50 pounds with no damage to the carabiner. If I had to estimate, I'd say it would probably fail at around 80-90 pounds with 30% infill. This was modeled with a climbing belay carabiner in mind for both strength and room inside the carabiner for rope/load. However, DO NOT use this for climbing or overhead lifting. If someone has the equipment to test the tensile strength of this I'd love to see your results!
