High Flow Adjustable Shower Head

High Flow Adjustable Shower Head

This is a fully functional shower head with ball joint for adjusting the spray direction. It's designed for use with standard 1/2" threaded pipe, commonly found in US showers. A removable end cap allows caps with different spray patterns or flow rates to be used. The included cap features seven openings, each 2mm wide. I created this shower head to replace one that didn't provide enough water flow. Most problems people face with shower heads are related to flow rate and volume rather than pressure. Today's market heads typically trade volume for pressure due to environmental protection laws, making showers feel vigorous without using much water. When dealing with a flow problem like mine on the upper floor, increasing pressure won't solve the issue; it'll reduce the already low flow further. The 2mm holes provide plenty of flow and allow me to rinse soap out of my hair effectively. I plan to experiment with different hole sizes and patterns to find an optimal solution for my situation. As I complete new caps, they will be available to you. To work properly, this shower head requires a #15 o-ring SAE (22mm i.d. - 3.5mm wall) and a 1/2" hose pipe washer. Wrapping all threads with Teflon tape is also recommended. Note: Even with sealed joints, the print may not be completely water-tight, and some "sweating" between layers can occur. However, I've only experienced slow weeping leaks, no larger ones. Update: I've found my preferred hole pattern and size and created a solid head without the screw-on nozzle cap to minimize leakage around the threads. This file is also included for those who prefer to print the solid version.
