High detail laser cut Tie Interceptor
thingiverse
This is a reworked version of my laser cut tie interceptor from the original trilogy. The base is still Breakfastsandwich's Tiefighter, but it's evolved away from my original Tie Interceptor, and the two models are not compatible. The mid panels are wider on this one, the upper/lower panels are sleeker and slightly longer, and the inner/outer panels on the mid solar panels are changed to match the original blueprints. Still in doubt about whether to replace the old one entirely with this. This high detail version is based on an old model kit I had lying around in the attic. Not sure which one of this and the old one is the most accurate, since the "blueprint" sources available on the net vary in proportions between parts. Instructions The model was cut from 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) MDF and spray painted in light grey for the hull and internal/external panels and black for the solar panels before assembly. The aft half of the mid panel was painted black with the front part masked and painted grey on the outside. The hatch pattern in the drawings may cause some CAD software to crash. Work around it by tracing around the solar panel area and making a hatch pattern of your own choice. A tight grid placed on a 45 degree angle seems close to the original pattern on the solar panels. Use the pics for reference, and do dry runs for figuring out the support struts for the upper and lower solar panels before applying any glue. The model in the pics is a slightly earlier version of the one in the files, but I've only made slight changes on some lesser details, so everything should fit nicely. Let me know if there are any problems.
