High Chest of Drawers Attributed to Eliphalet Chapin, an American craftsman born in 1741 and passed away in 1807 Made around 1774 Crafted from high-quality cherry, eastern white pine, and yellow pine woods Measures 86.5 inches tall by 39 inches wide by 20 inches deep (219.7 cm x 99.1 cm x 50.8 cm) A classic Chippendale-style carved cherry wood highboy is expertly crafted in two parts; the upper section features a molded swan's neck crest centered above a delicate, pierced stylized cartouche surrounded by intricate lattice-work tympanum details, accompanied by two ornate turned finials Below the upper section lies three short and four long graduated drawers, with the center drawer boasting fan-carved designs and fluted details; flanked by fluted quarter columns on either side The center drawer is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, featuring intricate fan carvings and fluted quarter columns that add to its visual appeal A shaped skirt extends down to angular cabriole legs, which elegantly terminate in claw and ball feet Acquired by the esteemed Jonathan and Karin Fielding Collection, accession number L2015.41.97
