High Bypass Engine Nacelle
thingiverse
STEP files now included for all nacelle parts, split versions of larger parts, chevroned reverser cowls, gearmotor, and remixed parts from CATIAV5FTW. This nacelle model is based on the Trent 900 Nacelle used on the A380. It's specifically designed for the 3D Printable High-Bypass Jet Engine created by Chris Shakal of CATIAV5FTW. The original design has been modified with minimal changes and substitutions, while retaining most of its features. Several parts require replacement or modification to ensure successful printing and assembly. To simplify this process, remixed versions of these parts are included, which eliminate the need for supports in some cases. A few parts remain in their original format but have been renumbered for convenience. If you're interested in only my remix of the engine from CATIAV5FTW, visit https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4562385. This model does not feature functional reversers like those on the inner engines of the A380. Instead, it resembles the outer engines without reversers. However, separate reverser units are available for purchase if needed. A gearmotor is also included in this package and can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4366771. Please note that while the technical requirements to print and build this model are manageable, there are many pieces involved, some of which are quite large. Assembling this project will require fitting, adjustment, and gluing, making it a time-consuming endeavor. The estimated total cost for this project is around $150 (2020 USD) and may exceed 300 hours of print time.
