The PT-71 class Motor Torpedo Boat is a highly efficient vessel. It displaces 43 tons of water, making it incredibly agile in the water. Measuring 78 feet in length, this boat can navigate through even the most treacherous waters with ease. Its beam spans an impressive 19.5 inches, allowing for maximum maneuverability. With a draft of just 5.3 inches, the PT-71 class Motor Torpedo Boat is able to operate in shallow waters. It boasts a top speed of 41 knots, making it one of the fastest vessels on the water. The boat's armament includes four powerful 21-inch Mark VII or VIII torpedoes, as well as a single 20mm gun and two .50-cal machine guns. A crew of 17 skilled sailors operates this vessel with precision. Three Packard gasoline engines power the PT-71 class Motor Torpedo Boat, producing an impressive 1,200 horsepower. This allows the boat to move at incredible speeds thanks to its triple screws. Higgins built this remarkable vessel and placed it in service on July 21, 1942.
