Hifiman Headband Slider + Caps (HE-500, HE-400...)
thingiverse
This is a slider replacement for the original used on older HE models. The fix is straightforward, the part is simple to print and works flawlessly. I created this to repair my broken HE-500s since I didn't want to spend 60+ USD on a new head that doesn't even fit without modification and drilling. I'm including both sides of the part. The repair will take you about 10 minutes. It fits just as well on the left side as it does on the right side. Here's how to do it: Gently remove the cover, which is glued with melting glue. Use a hairdryer or hot gun if you feel the need to. Remove the old glue to access the screws. Don't lose them! Save or replace the O-rings you'll find inside. I recommend replacing them, as the rubber may come loose after years of use anyway. You can buy the O-rings at your local hardware store; they're really cheap. If you broke the inner part, it's slightly harder to fix. You have to cut the leather from the other side of the headband. Locate the screw by feel. Try to make the cut as small as possible since it will remain there, just big enough to allow you to unscrew the screw. Replace with printed parts and don't forget the O-rings reassembly. Check the headphones. Cover the cut with tape or use glue or leave it as is – it's up to you. Glue the cap back using hot glue. That's it! PS: Use stronger materials, dense infill; I used Polymax PLA, and my headphones have been working flawlessly for over a year now.
