'Hidden Switcher' - N Scale Manual Switch Machine

thingiverse

This is a hidden switch machine I'll call the "Hidden Switcher" as it's a manual switch machine that you can't see (or barely see). It's an enclosure for a small DPST slide switch that sits flush on the layout surface. The switch fits snugly inside, and the top slide piece glues securely to the square handle on top of the switch. You can then attach camouflage items to the top slide, which you use to push the switch and control the turnout points. You can print the top slide with or without a vertical peg that has a hole near the top for a control wire to the turnout. If you're using a deck with an object that has a hole in the front for the control wire, print out the top slide with the shorter peg. Glue the slide to the DPST switch and attach a deck with a front control wire hole to the top of the slide. The shorter peg helps with gluing and provides a flat surface on the deck. The DPST slide switch beneath the slide and deck also controls the proper track polarity to the frog of the turnout. I'll be posting various camouflage items, such as barrels, pipes, sheds, boxes, and more that can mount on top of the switch slide. You can see more details on my website at 1fatgmc.com/RailRoad/3D-Printer/3D-Printer-Index.html. To assemble the enclosure, snap the two parts together and then glue them with CA adhesive. The top slide snaps over the square push/pull handle on top of the switch and is also glued to it with CA adhesive. The prints were made using an Ender 3 Pro 3D printer with Cura set to "Super Quality" in the profile setting, and a stock .4 nozzle.
