Hidden Internal Lithophane Coasters
thingiverse
These coasters feature hidden internal lithophanes, making them unique and fascinating. The lithophane is cleverly concealed within the coaster itself, only revealing its presence when viewed under a bright background light. Each of the three variations boasts a distinct pattern of ridges on top, designed to prevent flat-bottomed glasses from sticking to the coaster. Crafted in the shape of an 11-sided reuleaux polygon, reminiscent of a Canadian Loonie coin, these coasters stack neatly together due to their beveled edges. Included with each variation are two coasters featuring images, one solid coaster without any image, and the OpenSCAD file used to create them, allowing you to customize them with your own pictures. To achieve the best effect, ensure that your images are in greyscale with high contrast and feature some completely black pixels for direct printing on top of the layer. With a lithophane height of just 2 mm, it's essential to remember that detail will be limited. When printing coasters with lithophanes, it is crucial to use 100% infill to ensure accurate printing, and choose a light-colored filament to allow light to pass through effectively.
