Reprap Prusa I3 Y-axis motor mount: Inspired by Barbari's design. I'd like to express my gratitude to billy619 for his assistance in designing this item, as he actually owns the Hictop printer. The existing design seemed a bit weak, so I added a flange facing in the opposite direction. The belt tension causes the motor to want to twist, and this mount helps offset that twisting motion. This part can be printed using PLA or ABS. Since motors generate a lot of heat, it's been observed that the old Plexiglas motor mount warped due to being under load and hot at the same time. Therefore, I recommend printing with ABS or PTEG for their higher melting points. By attaching the flange in this manner, it should provide better support for belt tension without requiring additional holes. I initially attempted to place the flange on the bed side as well but found that it interfered with the sliding bed. However, the flange can be extended if necessary. The nuts have cutouts to allow them to be embedded into the surface after printing, making it easy to tighten the screws without a wrench. Print Settings: Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.27mm Infill: 15% Notes: I printed this item using PTEG for its higher strength and heat resistance. Because of the three slots/tabs, I recommend using rafts and exterior support. Full support is also an option if you don't mind cleaning up the excess material.
