HicTop Prusa i3 Auto Bed Leveling Sensor Mount
myminifactory
This sliding mount is designed for the auto bed leveling sensor type SN04-N used on some Prusa i3 3D printers. The sliding mount offers a significant advantage over fixed mounts in terms of adjustability and is relatively easy to create using commonly available screws. A 1.375" long 4-40 screw and a 4-40 nut are required to build the lead screw. The mount attaches to the bearing block using 4mm cap screws, while the sensor is secured to the sliding portion with the original 3mm screws and nuts. This design allows for minute adjustments, making it easier to achieve precise Z height settings for optimal first-layer printing. To adapt this mount to other printers, simply create a new base mount for the base and sliding components, which remain unchanged. For added convenience, I have included an alternative member's design for 12mm and 18mm round sensors on Thingiverse. Update: Some users are experiencing issues with their sensors not functioning reliably when powered at 5V. To address this issue, I have attached a circuit that enables the sensor to be powered at higher voltages such as 12-24V while maintaining an output signal of 0-5V for input into the controller. The circuit employs a blocking diode. When the sensor output reaches 12-24V, the diode blocks the voltage, ensuring the controller input remains at 5V. Conversely, when the sensor output drops to 0V, the diode conducts and pulls the controller input nearly to 0V (approximately 0.7V).
