HIC Prusa i3 20A 12V Power Supply Cover
thingiverse
This is my first attempt to encase a power supply with a plug socket and switch. Getting tired of crawling under the desk to connect/unconnect the 3D printer was enough motivation to take on this project. Instructions To attach the cover, some care may be needed. First, solder the plug socket and switch so that the wires run through their openings and then insert them. The switch simply presses in, but the socket requires two 3m bolts and nuts. Living in the UK has advantages. Earthed power supplies are common here. Round connectors on each wire make it easier to attach to the power supply - safer too, with a better connection. Heat shrink was used for insulation, though electrical tape can be an alternative to cover exposed metal areas. Double-check that there's enough wire length but not too much before continuing. Feed the red and black wires through the large round hole underneath using two round metal connectors again. The wires were neatly organized, keeping things tidy in a cluttered workshop like mine. Insert a 3m nut into the small slot on the end (right side). Ensure that it lines up with the corresponding hole after placing the cover, ensuring it doesn't obstruct the assembly. With a bit of effort from the flathead screwdriver, this part isn't too difficult. To complete the task, use a crosshead screwdriver to unscrew the bolt on the left-hand bottom section. Be prepared for potential trouble with a regular crosshead driver if necessary. As you place the cover into position, keep in mind the small ledge which aligns perfectly over the hole and where the metal previously sat. It should then align precisely at this stage with some manipulation. To ensure a good hold in both nut (3m) that came out when disassembled - use your crosshead screwdriver without using an extreme amount force while also doing exactly what needs to be done (and don't leave any remaining piece off as it would create problem), after placing, check for proper placement. Then apply gentle but adequate pressure while keeping your hands secure from all directions since you might struggle with such operation in normal condition and thus risk hurting yourself which could cause accidents so better remain vigilant when engaging yourself during handling these tools without proper skill.
