Arrow Point or End Blade, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# HHO1-15 Okada excavations HHO, House 1. Excavation hotspots at Hot Springs 3 reveal a timeline spanning 1300-1400 CE. The HHO designation is reserved for artifacts from the 1972 Highland House excavations, a distinct stratigraphic unit separate from the rest of the site. The massive village on the shore of Port Moller, situated on the Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea, was unearthed by multiple excavation teams over a century. The primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and 100 CE-800 CE. Research results from the Hot Springs artifacts are presented as a direct outcome of grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the research as Principal Investigator. Original digitization took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing was completed by Global Digital Heritage.
