HexVase 04
thingiverse
This vase was designed from scratch to push Simplify3D's "Vase Mode" functionality to the limit: it prints walls as one seamless corkscrew spiral that turned out perfectly. Modeled using professional-grade software like Maya. The top image with soft, natural light is a clever combination of my earlier Light Orb 01 print creation. **Instructions** The slicing process was completed in Simplify3D, and printing occurred on a Makerbot Replicator (1) machine using the following settings: I used natural PLA at a temperature of 200 degrees Fahrenheit, while disabling heat bed power. Three bottom layers were set, along with an open top design, and no infill material was applied. Each layer measured 0.2 millimeters in height. I enabled Simplify3D's advanced feature: Single outline corkscrew printing mode (vase mode) - this option provided one solid shell around the object. Printing at a rate of 90 mm per second during actual production, and moving the nozzle at a rate of 120 mm per second while traversing unoccupied space. This print took exactly three hours and two minutes to complete.
