Hexmatrix Slim
thingiverse
This is a remix of the awesome Hexmatrix IoT clock from Mukesh Sankhla described here: https://www.instructables.com/RGB-HexMatrix-IOT-Clock/ In the original, most of the box is taken up by a tangle of wires, so I redesigned the box to hold a standard WS2812b strip to make the entire thing only 20mm thick. I have sized it to hold a 96 or 100 led/m strip so that each led lines up into one of the triangular cells. The front screen, the hexagon matrix and the led strip holders are incorporated into one .stl to simplify printing, and the backing and stand are a second .stl. Here's a video (with the clock adjusted to change the time every few seconds): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj1u9tcMcpY The original had the string of lights going horizontally. I have tilted it to go diagonally down the side to make wiring easier. Simply cut into strips starting at the top, and zigzag down to the bottom. I have included updated Arduino code to enable this modified design. I use a Wemos D1 Mini, but this should work with any ESP8266 processor.
