Hexasphericon 3x3 Puzzle
thingiverse
This is a 3D puzzle based around the classic Rubik's core, but with a unique twist - it's shaped as a Sphericon. The design files are not yet finalized, and I'm waiting for access to my printer to bring this concept to life. As soon as I have a printed prototype, I'll share pictures and possibly a video to showcase its features. The idea behind this design is not original; I drew inspiration from a video that sparked my creativity. The video in question can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9gv7IWM860. After receiving feedback, I'd like to clarify that the person featured in the video is not me, and I'm not affiliated with them. I simply watched their video and decided to challenge myself by adapting the design. I was thrilled with the result and couldn't resist sharing it with the community. The design files are still a work in progress, and they may undergo changes once I test the printed prototype. Optimizations for 3D printing are likely to be made along the way. A crucial aspect of this puzzle is that all pieces are unique, requiring you to print them all to build a functional cube. The only exception is the file "Hexasphericon 3x3.stl," which has its own set of requirements. Currently, there are two core designs available: the Standard Core and the Large Core. The Standard Core features a space between the center pieces and the end of the core, inspired by common speed cube designs online. In contrast, the Large Core has a slightly smaller space to account for 3D printing inaccuracies. Hardware sizing for assembly is still pending, but I'll update the design accordingly once I have more information.
