WORK IN PROGRESS UPDATES : [20/08/2020]4S 5000mah LIPO + 2212 920kv + 1038 gave approximately 11mins14s flight with weight equivalent to gimbal+camera (13mins30s without). This is correct performance. However, this propulsion can't handle motor loss (copter can maintain stability but sacrifice yaw control because too few thrust, just allow an emergency harsh landing). This can be solved by replacing 2212 920kv by 2216 810kv. However, by this solution low cost side is abandoned for equivalent performance. As I want now to have compact copter only for video, I switch on 6S quadcopter design. Conclusion: motor redundancy is efficient ONLY if thrust is more than enough, unless this, hexacopter don't have interest. [03/07/2020] Telemetry+vtx or OSD+VTX is hard choice, for purely video use I recommand OSD+VTX but with bluetooth telemetry (5€) that will allow you to calibrate, upload parameters and waypoint / missions from computer or phone without cable. [01/06/2020] I often ask to myself to change motors for 11 or 12inch props but it’s less standard (motor & propellers) so price is bigger when you need to change something. BOM : - All printed parts - Some M3 and M4 srews and nuts +-5€. - Aluminium square tube 12mm (2m probably) +- 5€. - Power distribution board +-3€. - Battery, take care about the Number of C you need, if not enough flight time would be reduced or even can cause a crash +-35€. - Kit with Pixhawk controller, it’s mount, safety switch, buzzer, powermodule and GPS +-58€. - Receiver according to your radio (I have FS IA6B for example, IA10B would be better) +-12€. - ESC 30A, DJI2212 or A2212 (around 920KV) motors and 1045 or 1038 propellers X6 (or other kind that you estimate suitable) +-58€. TOTAL without options : 176 Optionally : - Telemetry modules +-20€. - VTX +-11€. - OSD +-5€. - PZ15-094 retracts x2 +-20€. - 3 axis gimbal +-43€. - video 5.8ghz antenna x2 +-9€. - Video receiver ROT G1 pro +-13€. - Av cable for camera +-3€. TOTAL of options : 124 All this doesn't include remote control, battery charger, camera. Estimated performance : Total weight with 8000mah battery (420g), telemetry, vtx, and 3 axis gimbal with camera (+-200g) is 2.23kg, +-10 minutes flight time. Advices : - After unmounting ESC or Motor, always test well the rotation direction of your props with mission planner. - DJI type motors like the 2212 920KV (readytosky for example) require DJI type propellers hub, I would probably choose another similar kind of motors if I knew it was not standard.
