Hexagonal Prism & basal pinacoids

Hexagonal Prism & basal pinacoids

sketchfab

This crystal consists of a hexagonal prism and basal pinacoids. It boasts four crystallographic axes: the z-axis, which is also a hexad rotation axis, stands out in red, while three axes in the x-y plane that form angles of 60° to each other are showcased in blue. The three axes in blue are also diad rotation axes. Three additional diad axes (offset at 30° from the set displayed) exist but are not depicted here as this is a first-order prism. In addition to its rotation axes, this crystal form features seven mirror planes, one perpendicular to each rotation axis – although they are not shown here.
