Hexagonal Impossible Dovetail with secret compartment
thingiverse
This is a hexagonal impossible dovetail demonstration piece that demands to be printed in two distinct colors for maximum visual impact. A 0.1mm tolerance gap has been deliberately included to allow for a snug, yet not overly restrictive fit. I strongly advise using a 50% infill setting to provide the fins with sufficient strength. As it stands, the thin fins on part one are surprisingly fragile and won't be able to withstand much abuse. To add robustness to these fins, you may want to consider printing this part sideways so that the grain of the print runs vertically along the fin rather than horizontally across it. Alternatively, you could try scaling up the design as I originally created it, giving the base of each fin a larger surface area in the process – although this would undoubtedly prolong the printing time. The final decision is yours to make. Printer Settings: Printer: Mod-t Rafts: Yes Resolution: 0.1 Infill: 50%
