»Hexagonal Gyro Die«
grabcad
A hexagonal die, functioning as a gyro, generates random numbers. To generate two random numbers uniquely, join a rectangular-die with any of its six holes to the cone shaft of the hexagonal die during rotation. Both dice will then start spinning together and eventually come to rest on a flat surface, displaying their respective numbers. The hexagonal die should be made from a denser material, such as aluminum or high-density plastic, while the rectangular die can be crafted from wood or low-density plastic. This combination results in a center of gravity approximately 3mm above the middle of the hexagon and 15.5mm above the table for the rectangular die. To observe the dice's rotation and translation movements effectively, use a dice board with a smooth surface and high walls to prevent them from falling off. Have fun experimenting!
